Use this sauce on spare ribs, pork, etc. This recipe can easily be doubled or tripled. It can be used to baste the meat as it cooks and also served on the side for extra sauce. Sharon’s family likes to even put the BBQ sauce on mashed potatoes.
2 Tablespoons butter
1 medium onion (sweet), chopped
1 small green pepper, chopped
2 Tablespoons brown sugar (or less)
2 Tablespoons regular mustard
1 Tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
1 teaspoon salt
¾ cup ketchup
½ lemon juice (optional)
Melt butter in a saucepan and add onion and green pepper. Sauté the vegetables for 10 minutes over medium heat. Add remaining ingredients and simmer for ~ 10-12 minutes until vegetables are tender.
Serve over ribs with mashed potatoes or vegetables of choice.
