Oatmeal Smoothie (Strawberry)

1 cup quick-cooking oatmeal (I like McCann’s Quick cooking rolled oats)
2 cups milk of your choice (low fat, rice milk, almond milk etc.)
2 cups sliced strawberries (use fresh if possible or frozen if unavailable)
1 cup nonfat yogurt (or low fat if your prefer)
1 teaspoon honey
½ teaspoon vanilla
¼ teaspoon five spice powder (or use a blend of cinnamon, ginger, and cloves [Penseys Spices carries a Chinese Five-Spice Powder that is lovely])

Put oatmeal in a blender and blend on high for about 20 – 30 seconds. Add milk to blender and mix again. Add fruit, yogurt, honey, vanilla and spices. Blend on high until smooth.

Place in a container with a pour spout and refrigerate overnight. Pour into a glass in the morning and drink as you get ready for the day.
