The is the brownie cake that my mother made for us during our childhood. It is not fudgy but more like a moist cake.
4 oz. butter
1 cup white sugar
1 tsp. vanilla
½ cup flour
4 TBSP. cocoa powder
1 cup walnuts, coarsely chopped
Mix butter and sugar together until well mixed. Add eggs one at a time. Add vanilla and mix. Combine flour and cocoa powder and add to wet ingredients slowly and mix until combined. Add walnuts and mix slowly.
Add this mixture to a buttered 8” x 8” pan. Use a spatula to level the mixture evenly in the baking dish.
Bake at 350 degrees for approximately 25 to 30 minutes until just done. Sprinkle with powdered sugar (or you can use your favorite chocolate icing).
